But there is not only Ctrl-1 and Ctrl-2, but also Ctrl-3 with 3-way merges, by far the most common and important merge scenario for me (and probably others). Having to select (and deselect!) with multiple presses of Ctrl-Left/Right would be very awkward. I could imagine having both key bindings at the same time, although I am not really fond of it. (BTW, I am not a big fan of Ctrl-1/2/3 either.
