To give more detail, diffing files A and B will open up the normal KDiff window, but you would also be able to edit file A in the A pane, and file B in the B pane. Saving would write only the panes changed to the correct files. This could be extended to the 3rd file as well...

Actually, it's meaningless without full edit of any of the compared files.
This is why I use windiff + wine.
