I will second this. I'm trying out switching from kdiff3 from winmerge as a diff tool for SVN because I need 3 way merge and this it the big feature I miss from Winmerge.
I consider this a high priority.
It should be configurable as it is in Winmerge.

There are currently two shortcuts to close KDiff3: Ctrl-Q (Quit) and Alt-F4 (Standard shortcut for closing windows).
Considering this, do you still think ESC is still necessary?
Best regards,
Joachim

Ye, I think so.
Kdiff's main window usually acts like a modal dialog of some client tool.
That is: I use TortoiseSVN+kdiff and when I need diferences of two revisions tortoise opens kdiff. All TortoiseSVN modal dialogs (and I suppose most modal dialogs in any tool/system) can be closed with Esc key, so when I need to close my differences modal dialog (aka kdiff's main window) and return to tortoise, my first try is using Esc key. Then I realize kdiff is a different tool and different rules are applied, but I suppose if I could configure the key to close the main window, integration with client tools will be much better.
I hope I've explained the problem clearer now

I agree that if you want seamless integration with TortoiseSVN then ESC makes it seem like it is all part of one tool rather than multiple tools bolted together.
But I am switching back to WinMerge for the 2-way differencing since it lets you easily edit the files in the diff and only using kdiff for merge conflicts so it doesn't matter much to me any more.

I want this too, but simply because it's convenient. Due to our development process and the way I work, diff windows are very much temporary - I sometimes change many files at a time, and when the change has to be reviewed, I want to close each window before moving on to the next file in my changelist. Allowing me to close KDiff3 with escape would feel a lot more natural to me than Ctrl-Q or Alt-F4.
In fact, I wouldn't mind if Ctrl-Q was dropped in favor of Escape.

This is done already in 0.9.3
Yes, implemented in 0.9.93.
