When I try to create a RPM from kdiff3-0.9.91.tar.gz under either a 64bit or 32bit kernel (fresh install of CentOS 4.4 with all the updates), it errors:

    > rpmbuild -ta kdiff3-0.9.91.tar.gz
    ...
    /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.*: line 38: ./configure: Permission denied

I get the same error on two different boxes (one 32bit and one 64bit) running as me, sudo or root.

My suspicion is that the spec file needs some help but the specs files I've written look decidedly different than kdiff3.spec.

      Hi Tim,
Sorry about your inconvenience. I received this file from a user running a Red Hat Linux.
I added it to the package, but since I don't run RH I never tested this. You might want to fix the file. Or you might want to use my method for creating RPMs, which is via another utility called "checkinstall".

      Cheers,
      Joachim
