I've been using WinMerge for many many years for everything, but work has upgraded my PC to a 64-bit version of MS and i thought i'd try something built to use 64-bit as WinMerge has file size issues.

First thing i noticed on trying to compare large directories with KDiff3 was a new window pops-up and locks-up the main KDiff3 window so i cannot resize or or minimize it! Please fix don't do this, please combine the pop-up somehow so we can move or resize or minimize the main KDiff3 window, thank you.

Then it takes quite a long time doing directory comparisons that are imo much faster in WinMerge, what am i doing wrong please or is the comparison algorithm used by KDiff3 less efficient than WinMerge's, can this be looked at? I know WinMerge can also take some time, maybe i perceive it taking longer with KDiff3 because my expectations are that KDiff3 is 64-bit and will use all my CPUs, cores, memory of my new unfettered 64-bit PC (WinMerge is 32-bit and i expect it to take longer, but it seems faster overall).

Update: I cannot tell if it is actually slow, i installed and run the the same directory comparisons with a fork of WinMerge that is 64-bit and it is slow too, hard to accept that moving from WinXP 32-bit Dual-Core to Win7 64-bit Quad-Core makes little difference in speeds with either application, i was expecting much more, oh well. Turns out the 64-bit fork of WinMerge(2011) is quiet a bit slower, maybe 2x or more.
