We should agree on what exactly to bookmark: absolute text
position or page or both? Bearing in mind that simply by
choosing another font, the user modifies the total number of
pages of the book as well as its paging.
I guess the bookmark should point to the first line of text
on the bookmarked page. The user will bookmark a page,
kdereader will bookmark an absolute text position.

I think it could be both. Ideally we should allow the user
to choose how to view an ebook:
1) Page by page (default) - bookmark page(s) here
2) All text in one window at once. - bookmark specific
position(s)
Perhaps we may even come up with more innovative ways of
letting people read ebooks =)
