nevermind, I had a sox-dev laying around from the distribution and the build was picking up that instead of  my compiled version. I took it out and now everything seems to run beautifully.  Gotta look at those build messages closer :)

Like I said, I can add the clips to the project, it's when I select the clip that kdenlive crashes.

2 things to test:

1) Can you play your video file with inigo:
inigo my_video.mpg

2) Does your video clip have accents or spaces in its name or in its path ?
This will crash Kdenlive if your locale setting is not in UTF8 (check with
echo $LANG). I have not found a solution for this crash yet.
