1) yes, I can play video files with inigo.

2) no, my clips do not have any accents or spaces in its path.

Like I said, I can add the clips to the project, it's when I select the clip that kdenlive crashes.

2 things to test:

1) Can you play your video file with inigo:
inigo my_video.mpg

2) Does your video clip have accents or spaces in its name or in its path ?
This will crash Kdenlive if your locale setting is not in UTF8 (check with
echo $LANG). I have not found a solution for this crash yet.
