Yes, but the EDL can only represent a very limited subset of what
Kdenlive can do. I think you are just limited to clips on tracks of a
timeline with no filters or transitions. That may seem kind of
pointless, but some people keep asking for it nonetheless. :-)
edl its not actually limited it is a way to be able to work with other editors in different studios.

a sequence of tracks is a story to be told, and we need to exchange our projects among programs (cinelerra, blender, and other proprietary software) to be able to work with other editors as well when needed.

filters and transitions dont affect my story and either way that comes at the postprocessing stage and imho blender does it better.

kdenparse is not actually that difficult to implement... unfortunately dont have the time to study and do it. :/
