And regular file/directory browsing? This is possibly image viewer I've used, it's fast, intelligent and light weight however I can't see any way to use it aside from dropping an exe in every directory I'd like to use.
Anyway, slick viewer! Regards!

Partial support is coming up in the next version. You'll be able to install it and pick which directory you want. I'll add support for picking multiple, specific directories in the future if that's what you need.

That would be terrific. As an image viewer it brilliantly fast and really still very slick. But having to drop a copy into every directory is kind of tough when it would be much nicer just to start the app and select which directories to view (or with shell integration, right-click to recursively view).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next iteration! Still use it as it is pretty regularly simply because it's such a pleasure to use (once you get the binary into place). :)

Doh! Been bouncing between this and JPEGView and somehow missed the update. :-(
The new database and folder picker seem to work fine, and fast! While testing different viewers my fallback has been XNView, which is a decent closed viewer in its own right, but the speed and attractiveness of KIV makes it really refreshing to use (the background/color feature is subtle, but after using it for a while, it seems down-right brilliant).
The chromeless effect really gives it a very nice/clean/uncluttered look which makes it even nicer for viewing images.
Shell integration and custom key-binds are about the only features I miss using it (I was tring to bind left/right mouse buttons to next/previous).
Heh, also (I'm sure your busy and/or perfectly happy with it, so feel free to happily ignore me, I might if I were you too ;-)) the one painful moment I have with it regularly, startup it scans my photo directory (I do an art project so I actually have a kind of alarmingly big/fast growing collection of snippets of work I review) and MAXIMIZES. Maximizing would probably be cool, but I'm usually browsing/multi-tasking and I have to wait for it to finish the attention grabbing before I can middle-click my way back to whatever I was doing (would be nice if I could simply configure it to not start full screen, but I don't see anything in the configuration).
Yep. But mostly I just really like it and I'm thankful you decided to scratch the itch. ;-)

Yeah you make a good point about the full screen. That will get in the next version for sure. I'll see what I can do about the customizable keys, too.
And about the shell integration: exactly what kind of shell integration are you looking for? Right-click files and view? Right click folder and view files?

Alright 1.4.0 should address your issue with fullscreen starting. Also now the keyboard/mouse controls are customizable.
Explorer shell integration didn't make it this release because (A) I'm not sure exactly what I want to do with it, and (B) it looks like a giant pain to get everything in place: strong name signing my assembly, GAC-ing the assembly, adding registry hooks, learning the shell APIs, etc.

Alright, 1.3 is out. It should be even faster now thanks to the sqlite database, and some improvements to the display code.
It doesn't have the shell extensions yet; I'll have to put that on my "todo" list. Let me know if the new folder picker is working out for you.
