I am in the process of installing usbb2k on Ubuntu 8.10. Everything worked fine until i tried to set everything to autostart. I accidentally used the instructions for Gentoo (autostart driver). The driver does not automatically startup and when I try to start it in terminal Usbb2k notifies me that there is a problem with the usb device (and of course my phone no longer works with skype). I am a pretty basic linux user. What command(s) do I need/How do I undo my mistake?

Where did you get the gentoo instructions from ? and can you tell me what commands you typed ?
You can probably find out what you typed by typing
cat ~/.bash_history
Can you post me exact error messages and I'll try and help you out.
Simon
p.s. you can look at startup services using services-admin in ubuntu I believe
