Can Katapult be programmed to open an existing open application rather than invoke a second version of that application?

For example, if I want to access Firefox via Katapult, I find that Katapult opens a 2nd or 3rd separate version of Firefox, rather than open the existing already-open version. Definitely not what I want most of the time.

The same holds for Thunderbird and other applications.
