Look in the example scripts for scripts named local/run_dnn.sh (this is Karel's version) and local/run_nnet2.sh (this is my version). You could try both. Mine is more optimized for parallel training, i.e. if you have multiple GPUs or multiple CPUs. Ask me directly if you have further questions. Hi Yes, I was missing something obvious. --help is handled by Read method including calling exit(1) hence no need for calling programs to handle the value. Also think GetOptArg has mistaken name as it just seems to just run GetArg but return an empty string if it is out of range. I would suggest GetArg should just do this anyway and collapse the two methods into one. However reluctant to alter any of this as is deep kaldi stuff and not really idlak remit. Best Matthew |

Thanks for mentioning it. When I have encountered bugs in OpenBLAS in the past (and I have), they have been quite responsive about fixing them. I'm seeing if I can reproduce this problem, but right now all the test code, at least, seems to pass OK. Hi Dan, thanks a lot for this answer. I had expected something like that, actually, as it just instantly happened after the last update. It is good to know where the error is founded in, and I will just try to revert to the last version, until this issue is addressed. Thanks a lot! This might have caused me a lot more days (if not weeks) of compilation-ache... OK, I see the problem. This is a known issue with gcc-4.8.2.1, there is a bug in the implementation of std::sort in the standard library. We were not able to work around this bug, which is a pretty severe one. The next minor revision number of gcc should fix it. I'm surprised this version even appears in a widely used repo, because this is a bad bug. Hi, I have been today experiencing a problem with my kaldi installation (most of today, actually... unfortunately). I had an update on my system (LMDE) recently, and perhaps some update on gcc might have caused it, but perhaps there might also just be a bug in Kaldi. I had set up a script to install a certain revision of Kaldi on our machines, to have something solid to work with and build around, and just update to a newer revision if it might be necessary/beneficial. I had so far chosen revision 3460 of kaldi-trunk. I wrote a script to compile the needed dependencies (LAPACK/BLAS, portaudio, openfst) and went all the way compiling kaldi and the external components. Today I included the tests to the script, and the 'make test' fails in matrix-lib-test. I have tried the following setups: OpenBLAS + Kaldi shared ATLAS + Kaldi shared ATLAS + Kaldi static The error occurred in all these cases and reads as in the attached 'error.log' file (of the last setup, hence no mention of libatlas.so or alike). It was a very similar error in all cases. I did not yet try the latest revision, as I could not find any hint to changes connected to this error in the commits, but I could do this. If you need any more detailed output or me invoking a debugger or something else, please tell me. My system specs: $ uname -a Linux g500s 3.10-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.10.5-1 (2013-08-07) x86_64 GNU/Linux $ gcc -v Using built-in specs. This is actually off-topic, since it's not directly related to compilation, but speaking of OpenBLAS, I encountered a problem with sgmm2-est, when built with this library. It segfaulted and the core file says it's something related to "kernel/x86_64/dgemv_t .S". There are several bugs reported on their tracker about this file, but they should be fixed in the version I'm using (which is approx. one month old). I didn't feel like digging deeper, but switching to ATLAS fixed the problem. Just thought I could mention this in case someone have similar problems. Thomas, It would be great if you could contribute the changes needed to get Kaldi to compile under Windows, and figure out how to get the threading to work under Windows. By the way, depending what you need it for, you may not even need the thread library to work. It won't be possible or really even desirable to get the training scripts to work under Windows, and for applications, the threading may not even be necessary. In fact, I am working right now on online-decoding code that does everything in a single thread (the requirement of multiple threads in the current online decoding code leads to unnecessary complexity I think, and doesn't help from a real-time perspective). Hi, I've been using pthread-win32 libraries as a drop-in replacement. I've been using it in a different project and without any issues. I think I managed to compile kaldi using cmake and visual studio and this library. Did not test it much, though. Hi I'm thomas from a2ia company I'm in charge of porting Kaldi under visual c++ and "cmakeify" the build process On Linux side, the cmakeification is not difficult[1]. And i could build all target libraries. On windows side however, i have to make some patchs in order to compile the code[2] but now its seems ok. The remaining bottleneck is the kaldi-thread library. Only one implementation is provided and this implementation rely on pthread. I could plane on windows side to provide an alternative implementation based on boost::thread (or native windows thread api) Did any one on your side plane this type of alternatives ? Maybe it's already done somewhere? Regards Thomas [1] If i have time i will make a cleaner version eg without A2ia goodies, boiler plate corporate macro and so on, and give it to the community [2] i could send it to you when i have finished |

Thanks for pointing out the problem. This was a problem that only occurred if you configured with the --shared option, which uses dynamic libraries. I have fixed the issue with libkaldi-lat.so, which was a missing dependency in the Makefile. Christopher- is it possible to extend your jenkins build so that we also test with the --shared option, and maybe test "make ext" too? There could be several mismatches between Voxforge and your test data, e.g. sampling rate of speech, mismatch in the vocabulary or topics people talk about. Kaldi is really not meant for a one-stop shop for ASR solutions. There are several commercial entities that provide such solutions. -Arnab On Wed, Jan 29, 2014 at 4:14 PM, Ali-Amir Aldan <al...@ba...> wrote: > Dear Kaldi Team, > > I am newbie in the speech recognition field with some experience in machine > learning and was wondering if you could give me an advice. That means you have just installed openfst but not applied the openfst.patch in the tools/ directory. Go to tools/ and run make openfst_tgt, or read the instructions in INSTALL, or read the Makefile itself. -Arnab On Wed, Jan 29, 2014 at 11:52 AM, mostafa abdallah <mos...@gm...> wrote: > Dear > I resolve it BUT Now it tell me that > > Path/include/fst/minimze.h seems not to be patched ??? > > > > 2014-01-29 mostafa abdallah <mos...@gm...> > >> Dear >> I read INSTALL instructions and installed openfst BUT when running >> ./configure it says >> >> you may not have installed OpenFst >> >> What is My problem ?? >> and how i can trace ./configure ?? >> >> Thanks > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > WatchGuard Dimension instantly turns raw network data into actionable > security intelligence. Dear Kaldi Team, I am newbie in the speech recognition field with some experience in machine learning and was wondering if you could give me an advice. I would like to build a speech recognition system that would be able to transcribe news/sports audio tracks. The accuracy is not very crucial (in the sense that if the transcription sounds similar to the actual text it would be great). Having only VoxForge corpus at hands, I have tried the test recipes under egs/voxforge in the code base. They performed bad even for noiseless data. Thus, I was wondering if there are any ready solutions for this specific task and if you could advise anything on the issue (whether changing the corpus is crucial, what models to train). I would greatly appreciate any help! Thank you for your time! Yours sincerely, Ali-Amir Aldan, Intern at Baarzo.com |

Kaldi does not support these out of the box. You would need to write an interpreter.
