Problems with arts should be reported to the kde project at bugs.kde.org. They don't concern kaffeine. Not from a software developement standpoint at least. That arts is an unstable piece of ****, is in my humble oppinion well known. I do not depend on arts for sound for my mission critical sound applications. You should probably use alsa directly.
