Using Redhat updates, Qt switched from version 3.0.3 to 3.0.5 (3.0.5-7.14). Can anyone here verify that this version works at all? I have all libraries of equal or greater version as required, but configure fails to find them even if explicitly named, and if library paths are given to all required libraries (and permissions are correct, ldconfig -p shows them there as well). I am suspicious that the configure script is broken, and cannot work with 3.0.5-7.14. I want to know if anyone with an updated Redhat (in this case updated RH 7.3) can use k2d. D. I'm not on the email list, so please send any replies also to my address.
I have Redhat with KDE 3.0.5a-0.73.0. My Qt is 3.0.5-7.14, and I have
qt-mt threaded libs of the same version.
Whenever I try to run ./configure, regardless of whether I manually name
the qt directory or not, it says:
...

not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!
Going to config.log, I see (I added a blank line before 3 ld warnings):

Now as far as the other libraries it claims Qt needs but which are
missing, those are also all present, Xmu might not be the requested
version. Locate shows:

Is lib Xmu the culprit of this failure to configure Qt? 3.0.5 should be
sufficient for Qt > 3.0.3.

i compiled k2d with debian sid + g++ 3.2. It configured well but when compiling it stoped because it was missing fontconfig.h , so you need to ask for libfontconfig1-dev (Again ,Debian) Ten it stopped because didnt find the abs function in linetool.cpp so i added #include <stdlib.h> to linetool.cpp and it worked just fine. sorry for my english, it isn't my native language and I'm in a hurry j0rd1 pd. nice work! ________________________________________________ Message sent using UebiMiau 2.7.2 |

Am Samstag, 8. M=E4rz 2003 18:33 schrieb Michael Corbett: > If one of these (I understand karbon) is the current vector > graphics program for koffice why not just develop SVG support for this? Sorry for the delay. Short answer: I am more interested in animations and scripting. A vector graphic program of an office suite has to hide the implementation details. So karbon is able to export svg, but you can't determine the structure of the svg elements. Let's say you select a colors for your chart. You don't want to care about internal details of elements and attributes. On the other hand, if you write a script to animate your chart you have to care about these implementation details. I'm glad you didn't ask: why isn't k2d part of the quanta web development tool? Or why don't you develop an easy-to-use animation tool for koffice? Well let's hope it will be possible to plug the core of k2d into koffice and quanta. Unfortunately up to now, k2d is a one person part time project. And in my opinion the next goal is to make it usable for constructing animations. Regards, Edwin |

I was confused enough between the killustrator, kontour and karbon thing. If one of these (I understand karbon) is the current vector graphics program for koffice why not just develop SVG support for this? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Michael |

In my opinion, k2d doesn't make sense, as long as an out-of-the-box linux doesn't contain a svg viewer. But I am quite sure, ksvg will become usable long before k2d. On the other hand this project depends on features, which are not really important for a viewer. E.g. a fast painter which reuses the svps whenever possible. Of cause, I would like to join the discussion about the ksvg design. Unfortunately I am not able to spend my whole time on free software and I am more interested in writing an editor.=20 Nevertheless, can you forward the time-schedule of the irc sessions or the results of the discussion to me?
