yes, Yes, YES and YES!!!!!
this is exactly how i "sneak" python into my company. my jython program can
call any in house java api we have and with a simple @sig in any jython method,
the java programmers call the jython code and have absolutely no clue they are
calling jython. i've separated the jython development environment, and our
source control system automatically sucks it down when it's a dependency so java
developers don't even know they have it. i've eliminated the jythonc.bat files
and have embedded the jythonc calls directly into our ant files, so there is no
extra step to compile it... it compiles just like any other java program. and
finally, since our java launcher automatically adds all jar files a particular
directory, i simply drop the jython.jar file there. so the end result is that
jython can seemlessly be embedded into any java environment, for the compilation
stage, jython calling java and visa-versa, and for distribution.
