I was looking for a book to get started with web development using Jython, so the title made it quite attractive. It also makes sense, an experienced Java developer is going to look into Jython as a way to speed up the creation of glue or the web ui, not for doing the heavy lifting (where performance is important and reusing the experience you got is important as well). The production of web ui, throwaway scripts and glue code in general is kind of a sweep spot to begin with Jython, lower risk and higher reward (hopefully). Was it not for the Django reference I would probably have looked elsewhere into a book already published or something like that. Cheers Andrea |
