I'm currently building a web service using Python cig, but my application is now getting a bit too heavy to work well as a cgi. As mod_python is not supported by the web-server provider, I was thinking of using Jython together with JSP to run my application. The problem is that the python source I like to use is written in Python 2.3 and widely uses new-style classes. In extent, I'm using MySQLdb (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python <http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python>) and 4Suite (4suite.org <http://4suite.org>) which is partly implemented in C. As I began to realise that it will be very hard to actually run my application inside Jython, I was thinking of using a Jython servlet to execute an external Python application. If I could only connect the i/o streams in a sufficient way, I believe that it could be a pretty nice solution. So I guess my question is, has any of you done something like this, could put me in the right direction, and do you think it would be a sufficient solution? Alternately, any thoughts of how to get around this problem, with or without Jython, would be greatly appreciated. ..Erik |
