You can name them as you like - if it helps you. The extension is only needed
on windows for file-type distinction, and I think it shouldn't be too hard to
register .jy to the jython interpreter.
The thing is that usually jython comes into play when the interoperability
between java and jython is needed - e.g. in your oracle-related question. But
that mostly involves having a customized classpath. So I usually end up with
some customized shell script lying in the root dir of my current project that
gathers all necessary jars. So there is not much sense in registering a
