Well, here is what I know. 1. The cachedir usually stores an index of all packages in the class path. This helps the interpreter to find classes quicker. I am not awared of any other functionality. 2. This basicly enables your python code to access the standard python libraries. (In this particular case sdtools is my directory for software development tools and jython21 is ths installatino folder of jythnon. ). If you have a jar file you should do something like this: sys.path.insert(0, new PyString("C:/jython21/jythonlib.jar/Lib")); The interpreter is smart enough to treat the jar file as a dirctory. 3.
