Post "downloaded / install" I have unsuccessfully attempted to run an
interactive session - per the 'Jython Essentials' book by S. Pedroni and N.
[a] FROM CMDLINE: "F:\Jython>java -jar -classpath . F:\Jython\jython.jar"
[b] I get the following ERROR MSG: "Failed to load Main-Class manifest
Similar instructions successfully runs other java-archive-based programs,
ArgoUML for example:
F:\Jython>java -jar "C:\Program Files\Argo\argouml.jar"
"Configuration loaded from E:\Documents &
SAX Parser Factory org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl will be used.
Component: ArgoUML, by: University of California, version: 0.10 ..."
The GUI installer indicated that I had the correct JVM available, and that
my Win2K version was also not a problem. Further, by comparing jython.jar
to argouml.jar, I did not the following:
there's NO Main.class in the jython archive, and
the ArgoUML archive 'Manifest.MF' had these directives which were NOT
in the 'jython' manifest:
[a] Main-Class: "org.argouml.application.Main"
[b] Class-Path: "xerces.jar jaxp.jar crimson.jar parser.jar xml4j.jar
nsuml.jar ocl-argo.jar gef.jar antlrall.jar log4j.jar jh.jar"
Can someone point me to some troubleshooting doc's or otherwise help me get
Jython up and running.

(page of these instructions?)
in your installation dir there should be a jython.bat script file,
so you can run jython launching that
java -classpath .;F:\Jython\jython.jar org.python.util.jython
