I successfully installed Jython on my Symbian UIQ phone (Motorola a1000). Now I'd like to know if (and how) i can use modules of "Python for Series60" with Jython. In other words, can I access Symbian APIs using Jython? |

My guess is not. Because the Python for Series60 is still going to be the traditional CPython, and there is no simple way for jython to interact with CPython. One way is to write JNI wrappers, but I guess that has already been done. Apart from that, I don't know of a way where one can make jython talk to cpython modules. hth Gangadhar On 1/3/07, Luca Cassioli <cas...@li...> wrote: > I successfully installed Jython on my Symbian UIQ phone (Motorola a1000). > Now I'd like to know if (and how) i can use modules of "Python for > Series60" with Jython. Is it possible to use Jython to send a keypress to another application, to emulate user input? |

If you can do it with Java, then you can do it with Jython. I see that JythonQ supports JNI (as PersonalJava does), so maybe I should "just" write a JNI wrapper to the Python Keypress module: http://www.control.aau.dk/~wilken/KeyPress.zip If that's true.... this means that almost any c++ module of Python for Series60 could be easily "ported" to JythonQ! :-) *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 13/02/2007 at 10.20 Jeff Emanuel wrote: >If you can do it with Java, then you can do it with Jython. > >Luca Cassioli wrote: >> Is it possible to use Jython to send a keypress to another application, >to >> emulate user input? >> >> >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Using Tomcat but need to do more? Hi, I don't know if this could be helpful. To autotest the gui part of the installer, I used the java.awt.Robot class. The doc say that it is sending native keyboard events. I regularly run it on 3 platforms: Windows, Linux and OS X. And if I happen to change to focus to another window, it is sending keyboard events to the other window. best wishes, Oti.
