I am having difficulties building applets with Jython. I've tried both Suns JDK2-1.4.0 (Linux) and Blackdown JDK2 (1.3.1) and no luck. Using either JDK I can build pure Java applets and they work as expected but if I try and build my own applets (or even the example applets that come with Jython) it builds fine but if I try and run the applet in IE I get an error like: "HelloWorld can't be instantiated." Now I can hit reload and everything works fine but... I'm wondering how the example were built and if anyone has any ideas how I can get this to work. Thanks, Jeff |

Hi I have this problem to solve. I have a applet to login where we enter (login, password and click OK ) then it is send to Security servlet where it checks the Authorization. So, we are planning to do LOAD TESTING on this with hitting Servlet with lots of logins. I am new to Jython so, I am just wondering if this is possible? Just give me some guidelines in solving this. I am sending you the relevant piece of code too. Can Someone Help me with this as soon as possible with some ideas? Thank you Chip |

Try JMeter, a powerful and free web performance and load testing toolkit from Apache: http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/index.html It's for Java apps, but if you compile your applet then it should be able to use it just fine. The issue typically occur if you have python classes that are subclassing a GUI widget class. If the applet is built with a JDK1.2 jythonc will create super__ methods for protected methods in the super class like: protected void processInputMethodEvent(InputMethodEvent e); The super__ methods are created even when the python class never overrides or calls the methods; maybe we could avoid creating super__ method if they aren't used, maybe it will not help. Since InputMethodEvent is a JDK1.2 class the resulting python class can't be loaded in a JDK1.1 environment. The applet examples was built using javasoft jdk1.1.7 but jdk1.1.8 should also work. regards, finn |

Compile the main module with jythonc --deep 2. Extract the jython.jar file into the jpywork directory 3. Pack the jpywork directory in one big jarfile, with a MANIFEST.MF whi= ch contains a 'Main-Class: <classname>' statement. 4. Copy this to the webserver where an appropriate html-file containing = the proper OBJECT etc tags lies.
