I perused the Jython code a little and discovered that if you replace
it might work. Jython only makes the SyspathArchive if
the string endswith .zip or .jar, but it doesn't look like it
prevents you from creating one yourself.

More info - I am trying to run a Jython application from Java Web Start. I
put all the .py files in a jar on the classpath. At runtime I use
getResource() to find the jar and add it to python.path.
With Java 1.4.1 this works pretty well. With Java 1.4.2 the jar file names
don't end in '.jar' - for example one of the jars is called
