Eclipse looks great and so far I find it to be the best editor for jython (with the plugin) but I can't seem to get it to launch my jython script. I get the message "Could not find the main class. Program will exit!" in a window with the title "Java Virtual Machine Launcher". I did have multiple JRE installed but I've uninstalled and reinstalled just 1 version (1.4.1.06). I've also made sure its pointing to the right JRE path in the Run Options, JRE tab. can't seem to make any headway with this. Appreciate any direction anyone can offer. -----Original Message----- From: jython-users-admin@... I know there are a couple books on Jython and was wondering which you would recommend for someone (familiar with Java) getting their feet wet with Jython? Robert |

Do I only need to include the 1 jython.jar file in my projects that use jython? Robert |

Just learnign how to do this myself. -You need Netbeans 3.6 or higher -Go to "View" then "Scripting Console" -In the dropdown on the Scripting console, select "Jython" That's as far as I got. I'm a little discouraged as it reads in the docs to the effect that you can "control the IDE" through a scripting language like Jython. I don;t think they mean the same thing as execuate Jython script, which is what I am wishing to do as well, but stuck right here, where I have describved to you. -Ralph ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maurice Ling" <mauriceling@...> To: <jython-users@...> Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 1:56 AM Subject: [Jython-users] Jython in Netbeans > Hi, > > Just wondering if there are any efforts out there packaging Jython as an > add-on module to Netbeans (a Java IDE), so that Jython can then acquire > an IDE? > > Cheers > Maurice > |

Hi, Just wondering if there are any efforts out there packaging Jython as an add-on module to Netbeans (a Java IDE), so that Jython can then acquire an IDE? Cheers Maurice |

Could Jython files have a ".jy" suffix instead of ".py"? Or is Jython sufficiently like Python code that it doesn't matter? Robert |
