A limited step in that direction could be very useful. Write jythonc
in jython. Great jython excerciser, can run with CPython when jython
is temporarily broken, can compile jythonc with jythonc (!) when it all works,
can make development of jythonc faster, slow parts can be rewritten in Java
while keeping the overall framework in jython.
As I understand it, jythonc is a behind the dynamic compiler, so
a rewrite is needed anyway.
