I just ran the debugger in Netbeans today and it seems to work fine for me.  I set a breakpoint in one of my Jython applications and the debugger stopped at the breakpoint and I was able to step through as expected.  The interactive console also worked okay for me.

Can you explain what you were trying to do in the debugging session?

print exc_suff

(in Jython, not Java)

I am not too familiar with Jython, but, should it not be None, rather than null?
