Hi,
I am quite new for this area that I tried to run this project
and could run it very well. But I can't search peers which
I setup from another peer. Do I need to configure
anything else? Or just press bat file? my environment is
Win Xp and 1.4.2 for java version.
Regards,
WangBor

how is your setup? Where do your peers run? Are they in
separate networks, in the same subnet or connected over
internet?
What tools do you use to search them? You mean you search by
using the search buddy dialog in JIM or are you trying to
use a jxta shell to find them?

1. Connected over Internet for both of peers
2. I used JIM search buddy
I am wondering I didn't change anything from config directory.
Should I do somthing inside xml files?

Observe what happens in Tools -> Network Info ... you will
have to reopen that dialog to get an updated view of the rdv
state. Keep and observe for 10 minutes and report back.
Are you sure your ports are reachable? Try to tweak the
port config through the configuration dialog. You need to
restart afterwards.

Thanks for reply.
My peergroup connected to Rdv is false, means I can get
anything. How can I make sure my configuration is correct?
Aslo ports of 9701 & 9700 is reachable?

If both become rdv peers for the Peergroup, you should
consider to provide direct access to those ports at least
for one of your peers.

When I tried to find buddy, it always said matches found 0:
users in system: 1. I really don't know what happened?!
Do I need to set up anything? Or yhou mean
"-Djxtaim.rdv.enabled=false" for one of peers?
Very thanks for your help.

I guess the reason might have been the old jxta libraries.
In CVS I have a version using the latest. You want to give
it a try?

0.1i is out. Check it out. Should work quite well. Feedback
welcome.

I download 0.1i for trial. Is it the reason that I used firewall?
I use "netstat" to check status of port #9700/9701. It shows
well and also can take look for foreign port. Don't know what
happen!

Please try to install jxtaim two times on the same machine
and try to find yourself first.
If that works, lets go ahead.

right, i tried to run two copies of jim from same system and
from diffirent systems on same LAN, both connected to
internet. still can not find buddies, always shows, 1 user
in system and that is all. using 0.1i with jre 1.5.0

ok ... please take a look in your .jxtaim/PlatformConfig ...
is there <MulticastOff/> tag included?
If so, remove it and restart your clients.
Logged In: NO
Ok i have removed that option. both of the copies get
connected to NetPeer Rdvs, but that is all. i have tried to
run on of them as RDV but no use, still can not find any
buddies, ports are open, get same result, 1 user in system.
The only time when this worked was when i had both systems
connected on same subnet on a LAN and not connected to
internet with <MulticastOff/> option removed. When
connected to internet i can not get it to work. I do not
get any kind of errors in LOG, this has got to be a bug.

OK ... if you are connected to two different net rdvs it can
take quite a long time (even really long) until you find
another peer. If you are connected to the same rdv, it
should work quite well (and fast).
Can you please try to observe whether you are connected to
the same net rdv or not?

thanks for reply, i left them on for like 2 hours, then they
found each other. i have to say though, it is incredible,
how long would buddies take to find each other even if they
are on say system or same LAN. Is it because the system
works that way or because not enough people are using it. i
would love to be involved in this project, i love the work
done and i think i is has massive potential.
cheers

Its because not many people are online in the same peergroup
(e.g. using the default install), thus the peergroup is not
well known on the jxta network.
Anyway, there are great improvements in cvs HEAD. Both on
GUI and backend. If you want to help on this, check it out
from CVS.
A screenshot of the new themable GUI is here:
