Thank you for your question. JWM Kit Linux's main purpose is to demonstrate JWMKit. Because of this JWM Kit Linux does not receive the same level of attention as JWM Kit. This is why I've not taken the time to improve the installer for JWM Kit Linux. I hope to see JWM Kit featured in another distro in the future, and If it is done well when it happens I would no longer need to maintain JWM Kit Linux.
Although JWM Kit Linux is not my primary focus I feel it does well especially for an older machine as it is very light on resource usage. Since it is based on Devuan it provides the same flexibility as Devuan meaning a user can mold it to their own preference
I hope this answer your question. Sorry I took so long to answer.

simple question: what is to do to install safely jwm-kit and erase xfce4 completely (as well as possible as lot of xfce4 are not entirely pure XFCE4 ;-) so in devuan refracta linux 32 bit)?

After install make sure to complete the first run part as instructed in the readme. Then you can logout and select the JWM session to test that JWM and JWM Kit is working properly.
NOTE: The Devuan Live Desktop iso uses the slim display manager which uses the F1 key to select the session.
If everything works correctly you can move forward with removing XFCE. This little gem below is a command that completely removes XFCE. The command is not my creation, but I do understand how it works and have used it a few times with no problem. I am confident it will be a problem free solution for you. I even tested it on the Devauan Live Desktop iso. With that said there is always a risk when making big changes to an installed system. I provide this info for you to use at your own risk and I am not responsible for any negative results.
Thank you very much for those details. I did make a USB stick with Jwm-Kit live and start it. But, nothing to do... No password will be accept (excepted in slim "root" is known for the function "reboot". And I did restart my actual system to look in the web.
Did not find the place where the damned password is given :-( !
My purpose would be to start (if possible in my language, French or German, with my localisation to have the right time), install a bit more if needing and immediately remaster with that.
Is that possible if I start in live mode?
What are the steps?
I did try the refractasnapshot using the last refracta Linux ISO itself, also started live and did not have any success... The difficulty begin immediately with the options to select for the snapshot. MY ENGLISH is so bad, I understand nothing, but I suppose I would understand somewhat like snapshot-step 1: start the snapshot-gui, snapshot-step 2: select the option "1" etc.),
or use a script if available within the distro
I speak fluent 2 difficult languages, it is not the question, and can read a lot on Russian. But, my English is poor, that is the question! I did never learn English, only the BASIC English from C.K. Ogden, the English with only 850 words... As the first author from SliTaz ab. 20 y. ago did explain, he also did not speak English as he did create this little distro completely independent from other directly from scratch, he did write a completely new and complete documentation in French with absolutely no copy from pre existent English texts simply because he was not able to use then, and did have himself such a need! His success shows, that also a good programmer can have great difficulties with English! I can write a lot? Yes, from BASIC English PLUS French and German and a small number of frequent words used in forums... If you help me with the step by step, I would return your efforts with a translation into French and German in your wiki if welcome for you (if I understand good your instruction: translate what is not understood would be of course nonsens!)...

Sorry this info was not provided. This was an oversight due to the convenience that JWM Kit Linux automatically starts the session. I need to add this info when I find time.
The current build of JWM Kit Linux is based on beowulf. You may wish to use the newer Devuan Chimaera for your remaster.
I do not use the gui to create a snapshot. I use the command line as root.
as root
Hint : The package "amd64-microcode" can prevent refracta from building the iso. You will get the following error:
Archive is cpio archive...
Decompression error
You may need to uninstall amd64-microcode if it is installed on the system.
sudo apt-get purge amd64-microcode
To start building the iso enter the command in the terminal as root ( or add sudo before the command)
refractasnapshot
wait until the : prompt appears the press the "q" key
Next it asks to give the distro a name. If you don't want to change it just press enter to continue.
Now a bunch of stuff will scroll on the screen, followed by a progress bar.
When complete it will give a "All finished!" prompt.
you will find the iso in the directory /home/snapshot/
Hope this helps you.

Hi, thank you for your patience and your help! I did immediately try it, but nothing to do: «user» seems not to be the right password! So no way to start the ISO named JWM_Kit_Live_0~200628.iso . The ISO starts fast and willing but stops in slim at the password and you come no step more excepted "reboot" as user with "root" as password (and you can so restart properly)!

JWM_Kit_Live_0~200628.iso is the old version. Lots of changes and improvements have been made since it's releases. Please download JWM_Kit_Linux_20210828.iso and I'm sure it will help a lot.
I see in the wiki than jwmkit_settings runs on a dark mode, i installed jwmkit and everythin had a dark theme but only jwmkit_settings had a bright one. I am missing something?

Sorry for taking so long to answer. I just now noticed the post.
Dark/light mode depends on the user's GTK3 configuration. All of JWMKit uses the user's GTK theme. So if you are using a dark mode theme then jwmkit_settings (and all other JWMKit's apps) should display in dark mode.

i was wondering if this package is available in debian 12 or easily installed on either debian 12 or peppermint os devuan base ( chimera )
currently trying to game on peppermint os devuan base but it seems to be very laggy / stuttery . i tried to use peppermint os because i prefer their installer over devuan's refracta installer ... and im not very proficient with debians installer when it comes to a multi-boot computer system.
current system has a triple boot set-up
- windows 10 ( just incase i need it, or to fix family safety issues )
- LMDE 5 my main OS system for gaming
- peppermint OS devuan base
JWMKit is easy to install in Debian and it's derivatives. It has been tested with Debian 12, Devuan, and Pepermint.
JWMKit is not in the repository so you will need to download the most recent deb package (jwmkit-0~20220826.deb) at the link below.
You can find the install instructions by scrolling down on the same page.
After you install JWMKit make sure to use the jwmkit_first_run tool with the instructions at the bottom of the page linked above.
I recommend selecting the "Default" configuration, then set your permissions as needed for you distro.
I can't recommend permission settings as they are different for each distro or user configuration. I do know the following works for peppermint unless you have altered the system.
JWM Kit Logout : elogind (loginctl)
JWM Kit Time : sudo | Built in prompt
*NOTE : Installing JWMKit will not install JWM. If you haven't already done so you need to install JWM and select a JWM session from your display manager at login.
I hope this answers you questions.

@oui
Sorry for the delay. It's a jolly busy time of year.
I would first install JWM and JWM Kit then test to ensure it all works well.
Install jwm use synaptic or command line
To install JWM Kit download the .deb and follow the instructions in the readme (scroll down on page for the readme)

Dark/light mode depends on the user's GTK3 configuration. All of JWMKit uses the user's GTK theme. So if you are using a dark mode theme then jwmkit_settings (and all other JWMKit's apps) should display in dark mode.

Hi, I have configured Adwaita theme.
Thanks for posting. If it's OK with you, I would like to add your Adwaita theme for download on my themes page here at sourceforge and at codeberg.
Yes, you can add it anywhere.
