First, thanks so much for writing and supporing VI in netbeans, I will never get used to a GUI editor.

When jVi is enabled, tools->jVi checked, it works for a while, then it pops out of vi and GUI editor. The backspace stops working, and I have to pop it out of jVi mode. then it never works, restarting netbeans clears the problem.

again, thanks for an awsome editor.

Does anything else jVi related stop working?
Are there any exceptions in the IDE log around the time of the failure?
Could you try clicking in another window and back to the jVi editor?
Have you tried toggling the tools>jVi checkbox?

How often does it happen. Do you think there is a pattern? Random? Timing?

There are a variety of jVi debug that can be turned on. The output also goes into the IDE log.

Being unable to reproduce the problem, and having no indicator of a jVi failure, I suggest gathering some information. You can turn on some of the stuff in Tools>Options>jViConfig>Debug, for example
    - Module Interface
    - Top Component
    - debug activation
    - debug key strokes
    - debug mouse events
Then, when a failure occurs, let the log file flush and save it. Try to identify the exact spot in the log (which key stroke) generated the failure. Collect a few logs like that and then we can look for a pattern.

Forgot to ask... What OS, Window Manager, JVM, ... are you working with.

After NB first starts up with jVi enabled, does the Tools>jVi toggle work as expected?
