Why don't you have the JUnit version in the classpath when you compile them?
If you will run the tests, it means that you need the JUnit TestRunner in your
classpath. So why not including the junit.jar for the compilation too?
You can also solve that problem by separately building a jar file from the
junit tests (junit-tests.jar) and insert it into your cvs tree.
I'm maybe completely OT but I really don't see the problem here.
