I run the CTS test for Camera .I havent developed this Camera framework neither have I done the Test case. I get the error junit.framework.AssertionFailedError for the certain camera test. > The test hasnt given me much details . I am new to this. how can I smartly make out where the bug is , Is it in the camera framework , if yes then what can I do , I mean is there something more like compile the code with debugging enabled something so I mean the android with debugging enabled so that the CTS test run again will give me more info about the error , or something else. Could it be problem with the Test case that was written. How to find out. > Regards |

Hello, everyone. We're happy to announce the release of JUnit 4.9. This release's theme is Test-class and suite level Rules. More information linked from http://saffgreenbar.blogspot.com/2011/08/junit-49-released.html, and release notes below. Note: please remember that until some website issues are cleared up, the direct path to the new JavaDoc is at http://kentbeck.github.com/junit/javadoc/4.9/. Share and enjoy, and please try it out and give us feedback. Thanks, Your friendly neighborhood JUnit maintainers ## Summary of Changes in version 4.9, final ## Release theme: Test-class and suite level Rules. ### ClassRule ### The `ClassRule` annotation extends the idea of method-level Rules, adding static fields that can affect the operation of a whole class. Any subclass of `ParentRunner`, including the standard `BlockJUnit4ClassRunner` and `Suite` classes, will support `ClassRule`s. For example, here is a test suite that connects to a server once before all the test classes run, and disconnects after they are finished: @RunWith(Suite.class) @SuiteClasses({A.class, B.class, C.class}) public class UsesExternalResource { public static Server myServer= new Server(); @ClassRule public static ExternalResource resource= new ExternalResource() { @Override protected void before() throws Throwable { myServer.connect(); }; @Override protected void after() { myServer.disconnect(); }; }; } ### TestRule ### In JUnit 4.9, fields that can be annotated with either `@Rule` or `@ClassRule` should be of type `TestRule`. The old `MethodRule` type, which only made sense for method-level rules, will still work, but is deprecated. Most built-in Rules have been moved to the new type already, in a way that should be transparent to most users. `TestWatchman` has been deprecated, and replaced by `TestWatcher`, which has the same functionality, but implements the new type. ### Maven support ### Maven bundles have, in the past, been uploaded by kind volunteers. Starting with this release, the JUnit team is attempting to perform this task ourselves. ### LICENSE checked in ### The Common Public License that JUnit is released under is now included in the source repository. ### Bug fixes ### - github#98: assumeTrue() does not work with expected exceptions - github#74: Categories + Parameterized In JUnit 4.8.2, the Categories runner would fail to run correctly if any contained test class had a custom Runner with a structure significantly different from the built-in Runner. With this fix, such classes can be assigned one or more categories at the class level, and will be run correctly. Trying to assign categories to methods within such a class will flag an error. - github#38: ParentRunner filters more than once Thanks to `@reinholdfuereder` - github#248: protected BlockJUnit4ClassRunner#rules method removed from 4.8.2 - github#187: Accidental dependency on Java 6 Thanks to `@kcooney` for: - github#163: Bad comparison failure message when using assertEquals(String, String) - github#227: ParentRunner now assumes that getChildren() returns a modifiable list ### Minor changes ### - Backed out unused folder "experimental-use-of-antunit", replaced by bash-based script at build_tests.sh - Various Javadoc fixes Thanks to `@kcooney` for: - Made MultipleFailureException public, to assist extension writers. - github#240: Add "test" target to build.xml, for faster ant-driven testing. - github#247: Give InitializationError a useful message |

Hi Seniors, I am a newbie in using Junit. Please let me know if JUnit will be good enough for web application testing(server code in java). Is it true that "The JUnit code will be complex and hard to maintain. You will have to reproduce all of the interactions between code and user within the Junit test, which very quickly becomes complex. If all you are doing is testing one single entry point, then this could well work, but if you are testing multiple screens (a wizard or something like that), then it can quickly become fragile and unmanageable."? I will be moving to watij if Junit is not good enough for web app testing. Suggestions cordially invited. -- Thanks and Regards Jyotirmoy Sundi |

We'd like to announce to the JUnit community that our popular Requirements, Test and Defect Management system - SpiraTest - is now able to integrate with JUnit. So you can define all your project requirements, test cases, test steps in SpiraTest, perform client testing using our manual test runner. and also have automated JUnit tests now report back into SpiraTest. All you need to do is download our JUnit extension and mark the JUnit tests with a custom attribute and the extension will then communicate with SpiraTest using a web-services SOAP API. For more information on SpiraTest, please visit our website: http://www.inflectra.com/SpiraTest --------------------------------------------- Inflectra Corporation Technical Sales Email: sa...@in... JUnit 4.3.1 fixes two regressions in 4.3: * A bug that caused a NullPointerException when comparing a null reference to a non-null reference in assertEquals. * The binary jar for 4.3 accidentally included the tests and sample code, which are now removed for a smaller download, but, as always, available from the full zip. If you've had problems with either issue, please update to version 4.3.1. Thanks, Team JUnit |

Hi, I have a scenario where a standalone java application is deployed in unix box. I want to test that application with JUnit using WSAD . Could it be possible if so, how to let my JUnit testcase use the application deployed in a remote unix box instead of my local(windows) development files. A quick response is appreciated.... Thanks in advance, Jitender. |

Hi guys! I solved it: ------------ I edited the excluded.properties file and added following line: excluded.9=3Dorg.apache.xerces.parsers.* ... and re-added it to the junit.jar file. Hello, I want to let you know, that there is the first port of JUnit available for the leJOS Java platform based on LEGO Mindstorms. The main features of leJOSUnit are: - the core framework has been carefully ported to the very restricted leJOS capabilities (32 kB available, 16 kB for the VM) - there is an RCX specific TestRunner, which runs the tests at RCX. - the elapsed time for running the tests will be measured and displayed - the completion of tests will be displayed (OK, FAILS) - the tests can be restarted with RUN button - scrolling on the 5 digit display can be done through VIEW and PRGM buttons The plan is to provide a RemoteTestRunner, which is able to run the tests at RCX and display the results in a standard JUnit UI at host. The (small) footprint of leJOSUnit is between 6kB (leJOS 2.1) and 6.5kB (leJOS 2.0) ! For more information see the homepage at http://lejosunit.sourceforge.net. You can download the latest version from sourceforge at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65839. There is a mailing list, you can post to mailto:lej...@li.... leJOSUnit is OpenSource and based on the same Mozilla Public License as used from leJOS. Have fun, Jochen Thanks to the great implementations of JUnit, J2MEUnit, and especially to the guys from leJOS. It is always a pleasure running Java at such limited devices like the RCX. |
