I am trying to install linux on a digital
alphastation500.
I successfully updated the firmware to
V7.2. The JumpStart Version is 1.0.
Everything went ok until the reboot
section. I have choosen the option
reboot to after-boot utility, checked
redhat linux (cd-rom) and rebooted.
What happens then is the same
installation menue (choose which distribution you
want to install ) appears again and
again. No matter which distribution I choose
and hit the ok-button or if I hit the
cancel-button (where I am supposed to
return to the SRM-console) the JumpStart
Kernel begins to
load and I am back in the installation
menue. There is no SRM bootprompt
appearing where I could type in boot
parameters, kernel image ...
Turning off/on the machine does'nt help
either.

Hit CTRL-C during SRM's boot process, before it starts to
boot the CD/hard drive. This should cancel the auto boot and
give you
the SRM (>>>) prompt.
We will definitely look into why this is happening. Thanks
for the info!
