Old GLIBC problem for UP1000

There was a discussion on the axp list. here it is on
order of the messages:
--message 1 from: Kurt Ludwig
<Kurt_Ludwig@student.uml.edu>
Works well on a UP1000 cept for setting
up the SRM variables and grabbing the clock time...
(mainly due to the fact that it's non Compaq / Digital
SRM)
--message 2 from: Rich Payne
<rdp@talisman.alphalinux.org>
No, it's not do to SRM. It's because the
platform type is unknown to
glibc. Looks like the glibc on the CD is
a little old...
--message 3 from Jay:
Didn't know if you'd seen this...
They're talking about the API/Samsung
UP1000, which is EV6 + Northgate.
GLIBC has to know the system
type/variation to know how to do inb/outb/etc.

I don't know what 'grabbing the clock time' is, but I can
understand why setting up the SRM variables
didn't work
for him... this is not in version .21 . The
SRM problem
should hopefully be fixed in version .22 .
