#4 Player crashes if no audio device available

When running on a computer that doesn't have audio
output capability, the Player will run for a few seconds
and then crash with an error message. The program is
obviously working with a null pointer when querying for
the system's default wave device. But as almost all
computers come with audio capabilty, this isn't too
much of a problem.
