Wondering if there are any near-term plans for an "artwork viewing" mode? That is, instead of launching into a black screen with the menu open, launch right into a mode that displays an artwork grid for a default (saved) location, similar to Windows Media Center and others. A common format would be the "folder.jpg" file for the folder (and some kind of generic folder icon for a folder with movie subfolders without a folder.jpg). Also makes it usable for young kids that can't read to navigate via images.
As an aside, the simplicity of your program on top of the excellent VLC is near-perfect, in my opinion.

Hello Mark, the new menu is up it does not use fixed art images files but downloads posters from the omdbapi.com or generate thumbnails if not found.
However, since the images are cached, we could browse a local image file by hand.
For instance via a right click menu on the icons to :
- enter another poster search string than the file name
- force thumbnail re-generation
- or browse a local file
