Hi All, I have noticed that there are quite a few people that are trying Jnode but it fails for them because of multicast. I have made a little modification that allows the user to boot jnode with a simulated cluster of 1. You just need to specify a group port with a negative number. ie in Jnode/Jnode.bat there is an option passed to Jnode like -group 1234. If this was changed to -group -1234 then it will boot without needing to used multicast. I will be changing this again in the near future aswell. Since I will be making Jnode pluggable it would be better to make clustering a plugin. The choice between simulated cluster or JavaGroups clustering.would depend upon what plugin was added. The reason for this is to dramatically speed up the booting of a hosting service. If this hosting service was made up of one or more plugins to Jnode and not a netlet itself then it should be faster. The addition of a SAS for the hosting service would also be a plugin. If you wanted to use the SAS2 service to advertise the hosting service then you would use say the SASProxy plugin but you could also use the LocalSAS plugin to just service the requirements of the hosting service. As usual, any questions or quiries. Andy C |
