Hi there. I was in a similar position 3 years ago, became a committer, and did
a lot of work on it. Unfortunately, I got really busy and kinda dropped out
at the end of 2010. I am guilty - I took up the project to save it from being
abandoned, but ended up more or less abandoning it myself. But I always planned
to get back to it, just haven't really found the time.
From all the other committers, fgiust is the only one I've had the chance to
work with. We were actually going to finalize the java5 branch together and
make a new official release, but didn't "cross the finish line". I believe he
was waiting for my review of his latest changes, and.. possibly still waiting.
Anyway, I'm happy to see some renewed interest. If you want to get the latest
code, check out the CodeUpdateAndJava5 branch from svn. I can't answer your
other questions very well right now, but you can contact me directly if you'd
like and we can talk more (argh, that reminds me, I also have a bunch of email
to catch up...)
