I hesitated to disable them - I feared the consequences (-: It would be very helpful if one of the developers could explain this. The same thing is for "Text"-Nodes. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6442718 By: aditsu Hi, since it looks like this project is not completely dead, I have a request to add this method to the Tidy class: public org.w3c.dom.Document parseDOM(Reader in, Writer out) { Node document = parse(in, out); if (document != null) { return (org.w3c.dom.Document) document.getAdapter(); } return null; } because sometimes the input comes as a String and it's a pain to get an InputStream from it. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6018442 By: steffenyount Hi all, I don't know who runs this project of if it is even alive anymore, but working off the r813 version I ran into a few Exceptions and other problems that I have coded fixes for. I don't have commit access, but if one of the project owners would like to review these fixes and commit them, that may be a good thing. I posted diffs for the fixes to the following forum: https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum=jtidy-devel Is this one a better forum for posting this kind of stuff? Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=5843681 By: nobody Hi, you could use jtidy for this, but jtidy is primarly intended as a java port of tidy to use tidy in java apps. Hi, I am a newbie using JTidy to clean up some very messy HTML to produce XHTML. I am having trouble getting JTidy to clean up the script code. Please could someone tell me how to get JTidy to wrap JavaScript code with CDATA tags so that: becomes: My code is below (note that I am using 'tidy.setWrapScriptlets(true)' ): public class JTidyTest { public static void main(String[] args) { out.println("---=== JTidy ===---"); if(args.length < 1) { System.err.println("Usage: java JTidyTest input_filename"); System.exit(1); } Tidy tidy = new Tidy(); // obtain a new Tidy instance tidy.setXHTML(true); // set desired config options using tidy setters // (equivalent to command line options) tidy.setOnlyErrors(true); tidy.setShowWarnings(false); tidy.setQuiet(true); tidy.setWrapScriptlets(true); tidy.setWrapSection(true); tidy.setTidyMark(true); tidy.setAltText("alt_text"); try { FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(new File(args[0])); FileOutputStream oot = new FileOutputStream(new File("output.xhtml")); Document doc = tidy.parseDOM(in, System.out); // run tidy, providing an input and output stream out.println(doc); tidy.pprint(doc, oot); out.println("Parse complete."); } catch(IOException e) { ErrorHandler.error(e); } out.println("---=== Done ===---"); } } Thanks in advance, Tom |

The last released version of JTidy does not have the Configuration.bodyOnly (among others) option. We need to get rid of essentially all HTML except for a handful of permitted tags. Our source documents can be the Windows bastardization of an HTML file from Word, or any other random system. We are processing email, and every mail client has their own version of HTML oddities. By restricting the set of allowed HTML, we at least provide a level playing field. We don't want any HTML Header information at all, and instead only want to preserve things like div, em, strong, p, h1-4, and other harmless HTML markup. The last version of JTidy gets us part of the way there, but there are options I see on the web site that are not in that distribution. I tried building JTidy from SVN, but it threw all kinds of errors so I don't trust what I built. So, can someone describe to me how to set up what I want with what's available, or give me some kind of clue as to what might be going wrong with these tests? ********************************************************************** This e-mail, including attachments, may include privileged, confidential and/or proprietary information protected by state and/or federal law, and may be used only by the person or entity to which it is addressed. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4932718 By: sannysanoff Hello; I use JTidy to clean up user input (from rich text in browser) before converting it to other format. In Firefox, user enters following text (by selecting middle word as bold, then underline whole text): aaa bbb ccc
After JTIDY conversion, underlined "aaa " becomes "aaa"+nonunderlined_space: aaa[***space here***]bbb<span Then my routine treats this space as non-underlined, and then I render text and get ugly non-underlined holes between words. I looked in the source code and found Node.trimSpaces() function called here and there doing this job. Disabling it seems to solve my issue, but I wonder what problems will it bring? Its comment precisely describes its behavior, but I can't guess why this trimming is needed. (bold/italics are ok visually, though). ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
