Hi Jsynthlib people, Some months ago, I sent out an email to the list asking for some help with Eclipse and CVS stuff and how to start my own device module. I got no response from anyone on this list. Now I have actually finished building a retrofit kit for the Korg Poly 800 MK1 and EX-800 synth module. The new kit provides full sysex implementation along with 4 LFO's instead of 1, portamento mono mode, full MIDI controller implementation and a gazillion other new functions. And I am now seriously looking at developing a patch editor/manager and I thought jsynthlib might be a good candidate. But here is my dilemma. This list and thus, this project looks almost dead. It certainly is comatose and the patient is being wheeled down to the morg. Now I have a pretty good record for sticking to projects I start. Who spends two years rewriting the 8085 assembler of a synthesizer made in 1982? But it seems to me that it might end up being a bad idea to use jsynthlib as the platform for the editor. Does anyone have some opinions on this? If I do decide to take on jsynthlib, I am going to need some help getting my head around CVS and the modules involved in jsynthlib itself. Should I expect to have to do this without help or is anyone/everyone out there willing to at least help this sourceforge newbie find his way around the basics? Any feedback is very much appreciated. Anyone interested can check out my Poly-800 upgrade kit at http://patrioticduo.tripod.com/hawk800 Cheers, Mike __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi Mike, I have been on this mailing list for several years now without being active with the development of JSynthLib (shame). I once started to develop an ANx1 implementation and got pretty far until my harddisk crashed. I wasn't very good with CVS/SVN at that time so everything was gone. My college work somewhat took over and I never got around developing for JSynthLib. Regarding your question, I don't know if there is anyone out there still active on this list, but I would be willing to help you with CVS stuff as much as I can. I must confess that I have not used CVS on Sourceforge yet, but I have experience with SVN in "production" environments, so I should be able to manage CVS as well. As for the JSynthLib modules, it has been a while for me, but I could at least give it a try and see where I end up. Greetings, Imco |

Hello, I also have been on this list for several years and have seen few traffic here. Anyway, JSynthLib is really a good piece of software, so I have decided to develop it on my own. I have added several drivers as well as some modifications to the core. I was surprised to realize that nobody here was interested in my changes. Finally, thanks to Bill Zwicky, they are in CVS, so I do not longer have to maintain my own version. I am writing this to point out that the project suffers from bad luck. The are no active admins and developers. Being a frequent jsynthlib user I am ready to spend some time to contribute as well as prepare packages for OS X but it requires at least one active administrator who could spend some time to manage the project and answer emails. Is such a person here on this list? Perhaps it is a good time to put some live into the project. Robert Wirski |

I *am* a developer, though, so I can commit changes to cvs for others. I'm willing to be an admin, if someone wants to contact one of the other admins and nominate me. However, since I, too, am guilty of not doing any work on the project in ages, I don't think I can nominate myself with a straight face. - Joe |

Hi, after some time a reactivate my sourceforge account and made Joe to an admin. Now he can add other sourceforge members as developer to the JSynthLib project. So, don't forget to become a soureforge member to be a JSynthLib developer. Another topic is the JSynthLib Website www.jsynthlib.org: Try to contact Brian, the origin initiator of this project, to update the website. bye Torsten Joe Emenaker schrieb: > Robert Wirski wrote: >> I am writing this to point out that the project suffers from bad >> luck.
