Hi, I am new to JSynthLib and want to introduce myself with a few remarks: 1. These mailinglists seem to be extremely low-traffic. Are there still any active users and/or developers around? I think JSynthLib is still a great project with lots of potential, but also with plenty of room for improvement. 2. With such low traffic, do we really need 2 mailinglists ? Why not merge the CVS and devel lists ? 3. I have downloaded beta version 0.20.0 and CVS alpha version 0.21.0. I could not compile the CVS version because (I think) an error in the Roland-GP16 driver. After disabling this driver in the Makefile, running "make" was succesful (on my Linux Fedora 15 system) 4. In the CVS version the DX7 editor does not open, I am getting an error message instead. The DX7 editor is working fine in 0.20.0 version. 5. I am an expert in DX21/TX81Z (etc.) SysEx. I am the author of the old ATARI program YSEDITOR (http://yseditor.atari.org) so I know what I am talking about. I see room for improving the editor/driver. (For example: the EG and PEG graphs do not correctly represent the effect of the rate and level parameters. Please read the TX81Z manual, and/or compare with YSEDITOR) But I have no Java programming knowledge. I have programmed in Atari GFABasic, a little C, and Python. I will try to teach myself some simple Java programming. Maybe somewhere in the near future I might start contributing to JSynthLib. Hope to see some more life in these mailinglists! Greetz, Martin P.S. DX7 (and compatibles) owners might want to try my latest project DXconvert. This tool is able to convert DX7 patches in virtually every fileformat that can be found on the internet to a fileformat that for example JSynthLib is able to import. (clean SysEX, or MID with embedded SysEx). It can also import/convert patches from FB01, TX81Z, V50, DX200, and convert them to DX7 files that can be imported with JSynthLib's DX7 driver. You can download the current version here: http://members.tele2.nl/m.tarenskeen/download/sysex/DXconvert-1.1.3.zip |

Hey, I would like to spend some time developing for JSynthLib. Calling admins of the project to allow me join the project. I created a librarian plugin for yamaha SY77 that I would like to commit, and I am willing to do some improvements to core source. Thanks, Vladimir |

Hi there, I've got someone with a problem to get JSynthLib running on Mac OS X 10.4 with the CAProvider. Are there any Mac users on this list who can help? Cheers Joachim |

Hi, First off I'd like to say that this program makes everything a heck of a lot easier for Yamaha TQ-5 editing (it is similar to the TX81Z) - definitely the nicest editor out there. I see the date for the last update was some time ago so I'm not sure if you're all interested in any ideas at this point - but I noticed that grouping the sliders into the 3 banks, separates some parameters that would have otherwise worked well together. It would be nice to have the option to view all parameters as one complete bank and then pick and choose the important ones to be assigned to the physical sliders/knobs of the MIDI controller. Basically it would eliminate the extra step of switching banks, if for example I wanted to change the wave form of a patch while simultaneously affecting the LFO speed - but right now only one can be editing at a time. Just a thought. I don't program :( sorry. The Jsynthlib editor is solid otherwise - Great work! Hi, if you are not a Java programmer it may be better to search for a programmer willing to develop the driver and send it to you for testing. Is there a SysEx documentation for the Alesis DM10 out already? I'm asking because there never was any SysEx documentation for the Alesis Fusion. Maybe because it had no SysEx implemented? Hello, Is anyone working on a driver for the Alesis DM10, and what is the best way for me to help here? Sadly I'm no Java programmer, but I do at least have a DM10. My current thoughts are to reverse engineer the DM5 or DMPro driver once I get the Sysex specs from Alesis. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance, ~D~ |

Hi Daniel, I suggest that you post your code change on the list. One of the developers can then check the code in. I don't think someone else has provided a fix as the last changes were 5 years ago. You can check that online in the repository: http://jsynthlib.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/jsynthlib/JSynthLib/ synthdrivers/YamahaTX802/ http://jsynthlib.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/jsynthlib/JSynthLib/ synthdrivers/YamahaDX7II/ Cheers Joachim Am 05.03.2010 um 20:46 schrieb Daniel Baum: > Hi all, > > This is my first post to this list. > > I have fixed two bugs in the Yamaha DX7II/TX802 editor: > > The Amplitude Modulation Sensitivity slider had 3 as its maximum > level, it > should be 7. > > The Pitch Modulation Sensitivity slider's value was never updated and > therefore the parameter was not editable. > > I have tested the fix on my TX802. Hi all, This is my first post to this list. I have fixed two bugs in the Yamaha DX7II/TX802 editor: The Amplitude Modulation Sensitivity slider had 3 as its maximum level, it should be 7. The Pitch Modulation Sensitivity slider's value was never updated and therefore the parameter was not editable. I have tested the fix on my TX802. Other than that I have not been able to test it. How do I submit the bugfix, and how can I check that someone else hasn't already fixed them before me in some pre-release version? Thanks, Daniel |

Hi For the upload function of JSynthLib to work, we need a host and JSynthLib.org isn't functional, so I asked the guys at www.patcharena.com if it would be possible to cooperate, and Chad seems interested. The only question he had is if the JSynthLib patches should get their own folder? Or just use the existing Manufacturer/Synth folders that are already there? I guess we can make JSynthLib upload patches to the right location automatically, reading the "manufacturer" and "model" atributes from the patch. Here's the link to the forum topic I started:* * http://tinyurl.com/patcharenaforumjsynthlib Cheers Peter ** |

Hi There's a new website about hardware synths, with a lot of nice features. one of them is a list of all synths. http://www.ihavesynth.com/synths I'll start commenting on every synth, that is supported by JSynthLib, that JSynthLib can be the editor/librarian for patches etc. Cheers Peter |
