Installation and Configuration of JSSLTrace

After you have downloaded jssltraces tar or zip archive, you have to go through the following steps:

  • Extract the archive to a directory of your choice.
  • JSSLTrace is a java program and as such it needs a java runtime (version at least 1.7). Please set the environment variable JSSLTRACE_JAVA_HOME to the installation directory of the java runtime.
  • Prepare a configuration file for the client/server package you'd like to "spy" on. You can (and should) use as tempate one of the examples from the folder examples in the jssltrace's directory. These examples contain comments, which explain the purpose of the configuration keys.
  • Now you can change into the jssltrace's directory and start jssltrace with the following command:

<jssltrace start script> -config <your configuration file>
