Hi Jayram, Guys, On Sat, Oct 20, 2001 at 07:27:51PM +0530, jayram quoth: > Well I am jayram ...looking forward to kick start work on this project. Sounds good... I'm Andrew, literally about 10 days away from completing my Bachelors Degree in Programming (gotta love exams.. I may be a bit slow on response over the next week) and pretty keen on Java and remote DB and Client-Server stuff, so this project sounds like a lot of fun to me. > Lets define requirements, technologies and UI design at the earliest. Sounds fair. Adrian, can you give us a rundown on your vision for the project and the scope as you see it? I'm thinking that it'll partition quite nicely into a UI section and a back-end section which handles the actual DB side of things. Did you have any idea of configuration concepts yet? Mainly I'm interested in whether you see the back-end stuff running on the DB Server, or on the User's box? I'd probably be plugging for local user side code, so that it can in theory access and administer and Database (local or remote) that the user has the requisite access privileges to. One scenario that may bring up some issues with regards to security and implementation would be that (in theory at least) the Web Server, user, and DB Server may all be on different boxes. Any thoughts on what exactly you see this project being as yet? Cheers, Andrew. |
