#1 What am I missing?

Hello.
I've installed this on Kubuntu Hardy Heron, following all the instructions. I can launch the program by typing java Jslideshow and a GUI appears, with various buttons etc. However, this GUI is totally unresponsive and the only thing I can do to it is kill it. Am I missing something?
