I have a quick question. My requirement is to support text and binary file
transfers from a Java application.
Does Jsch's ChannelSftp object support transfer modes ASCII - for ascii
files & Binary - for binary files?
Any idea how to set the transfer mode?

Unfortunately, sftp protocol has not defined/supported such a transfer mode.

So, jsch has not implemented such a functionality.
