I'm interested in this too.  I have some aggregation reports I do that 
extract data from the database table and toss it into RRDs.  Very tricky 
to get ifIn/Out figures to line up since the timestamps are different.

I only took a quick look at the code a long time ago for this; I thought 
it was left to the mysql timestamp on insert.  I'm probably wrong though.
