Developers, I am glad to see Password Safe working in Linux with native interface. There are some good softwares for KDE (QT), but I am using GTK and I try to avoid QT libraries on my PC. But this is not the main reason to use PasswordSafe. I like, as it has all functionalities I am looking for to store my passwords.
There are few improvements for Linux beta version which I think will be more helpful. One of the is to has possibility to minimize in system tray (Notification Area in Gnome) when close buton (x) is pressed.
and congratulations for the product!
now I understand what you mean - you are right, there is no minimize to tray on close yet. It would be a sensible addition to have an option for this. Could you please file a feature request on the tracker for this?
(I just love to set tracker items to closed / fixed ;-)
I had an intermittend double icon size on KDE until the version 0.7 beta3. You might want to retry with the version 0.7, although there were no changes in that area.
What version of java and gtk are you using? Here I have java 1.6.0_11 and gtk 2.22.1 running.
I am just trying the new version of jpwsafe. I am still not using it in my daily work, but I plan to switch soon on it, as the interface is very clear and common (I used to use password safe under windows while I was on the dark side :-)).
I am not able to find any changelog to check how new things working an to try to broke them :-).
About "Minimize to systray" I had log an "Feature request".
You may be glad that jpwsafe is working on fedora 10:
$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_0"
IcedTea6 1.4 (fedora-7.b12.fc10-i386) Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b12)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 10.0-b19, mixed mode)
Once the "Minimize to systray" is ready I will create (at least for myself) an rpm package for fedora.
You software has a very big advantages against other I have checked for linux.
I have another question about the features, but I will post them under other "Subject" line.
Minimize to System tray works for me in 0.7 beta3 on KDE 3.5.9 with the option Display - put Icon in System Tray switched on.
The option has no effect for you?
sorry for the late answer, it was Christmas vacation.
I am using Fedora 10 and Gnome. I could not find "Minimize to System tray on close" option in jPasswordSafe.
When I click on minimize button, it seems the application is minimize in tray. I can restore it by click on the tray icon. It would be good for me if there is an option "Minimize in tray on close" in Gnome.
Another notice is that the tray icon is too big. It is twice wider that other icons and is not very good looking.
beta2 is ready - still thinking of creating an rpm?
If you created an ant task for this I could build and upload that rpm with the
