I'm trying to render a PDF file per swt printing API to a printer. Due to the dpi difference i have to scale the pdf up to 8, which reduces the Quality of the image.
Is there a better way for upscaling?

Rendering to an SWT printer is done as in the SWT "RenderDoc" example except you initialize GC for a printer device and you change the transformations as needed for the printer resolution. Text and vector graphics will always produce good quality. Whether an image contained in your PDF will look good depends on the resolution it has in the PDF. Some PDFs are "optimized" for screen display which means that the resolution of contained images has been reduced in order to get smaller files. These will not look good when printed.
