Thanks to Paul van den Berg, we have added a new release from Guido Vollbeding (libjpeg-6c.tar.gz).
I'll see how I can merge everything in the main svn.

I have been working slightly on JPEG LS. The encoder does compile on Debian/Linux gcc 4.2 with insane warning level.

Initially the goal was to patch jasper in order to support 16bits lossless image. But due to the lack of motivation and support from the dev team, this goal was dropped.
On the other a young and motivated team at openjpeg.org manage to patch properly the lib to give exact result (same as kakadu), therefore openjpeg is the prefered open source implementation.

Hello, I am trying to gather all the JPEG implementation that are needed for a DICOM library implementation. That is to say:
- Lossy
- Lossless
- Near Lossless (JPEG-LS)
- JPEG2000

All those library are BSD compatible
