Did you think about moving this project under the KDE umbrella? (infrastructure, ...). I guess this would boost its popularity pretty immensely as this would be THE java style for KDE.

We have thought about doing that, but we were a bit reluctant (shy?) to do so, because we think our project is still in an infant phase (hence the alpha label). Now that we have a decent build system, we do want to label Joxy as beta and that (I mean version 0.3.0 here) might also be a good moment to (propose to?) move it into the KDE project. I will definitely discuss this with Willem.
About a year ago, we did ask the KDE community for feedback (see here, "Integrating Java Swing with Oxygen") and we got quite a few positive answers, so that is encouraging!
Do you have any experience with proposing to move an application under the KDE umbrella, as you said? :-) I am (I think Willem too) quite clueless on how to proceed in such a matter.
Thanks for your work and support so far!

You have nothing to be shy about! This is an amazing project and you definitely deserve this being promoted to an official KDE package :)
No I don't have any experience regarding moving projects to KDE but what I have learned after years of reading various mailing lists is that the KDE community and devs are very welcoming :) So I guess just try it :)
Thanks for your encouragement, it is appreciated a lot :-)
We sent an e-mail to the kde-devel list and got a quite helpful response from Sebastian Kügler within half an hour. There are some small adjustments we have to make (adding a license header to all source files for example) and we have to create developer accounts, which we will do soon. After that, Joxy can be moved to the Playground. I'm already looking forward to it!
I will post back here and we probably will make a blog post when Joxy moves. It is simply amazing how enthusiastic everyone is!
Cheers!
Thom

I would use this mailing list: https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-devel
and maybe ccing this one: https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-artists
I guess another possibility would be jumping on irc and asking where to post (irc://irc.kde.org/kde-devel)
Hope this helps a bit :) Keep up the great work :)

Hi Thom,
I would have been VERY surprised if the kde devs/community wouldn't have welcomed you with open arms :)
Looking forward to more work as an official kde playground project :)
